SIWES (Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) is a program designed to provide students in Nigeria with practical work experience in their chosen field of study.

Week 1, Day 1
I reported to the organization’s Human Resources (HR) Department as instructed. I met with the HR manager who introduced me to the organization’s policies and procedures. I also received a tour of the organization’s facilities.
Week 1, Day 2
I worked with the Assistant Manager in the Marketing Department. She walked me through the department’s daily activities and responsibilities. I observed how the department developed marketing strategies, managed customer inquiries, and promoted the organization’s products and services.
Week 1, Day 3
I attended a meeting in the Finance Department with the Finance Manager and his team. They discussed the organization’s financial performance and analyzed data from the previous quarter. I learned how the Finance Department managed the organization’s accounts, expenses, and revenues.
Week 1, Day 4
I was assigned to the Administration Department where I assisted the staff with record keeping and filing. I learned how to use the organization’s record keeping software and how to maintain a database of records. I also observed how the department managed employee records and tracked employee attendance.

I met with my SIWES supervisor to discuss my progress and to set goals for the coming week. We reviewed the tasks I had completed so far and discussed areas where I could improve. I also received feedback on my performance and suggestions for how to make the most of my training experience.
Week 2, Day 1
I assisted the HR department in organizing a training session for new employees. I helped prepare training materials, set up the training room, and took attendance during the session. This activity helped me understand how the organization invests in its employees’ development.
Week 2, Day 2
I followed the Operations Manager and learned about the processes involved in production and service delivery. I observed how the Operations team managed inventory, monitored quality control, and addressed customer complaints. I attended a meeting with the organization’s Board of Directors. The meeting discussed the organization’s performance, strategies for growth, and plans for the future. This activity helped me understand how senior management makes decisions and communicates with stakeholders.
Week 4, Day 1
I worked with the IT department to test new software that was being developed. I learned how to use testing tools and software to identify bugs and issues. This activity helped me understand how technology is used to support business operations.
